If you’ve been checking yeezy.com today (28th february 2026), you probably noticed a big change. The era of the $20 YS-01 Yeezy Slides has officially come to an end, with the price for the YS-01 model now doubling to $40.
The Yeezy YS-01 Price Hike: Why the Community is Outraged

The main frustration isn’t just the extra $20, it’s that prices are rising while many fans are still waiting months for their previous orders to arrive. Paying more when logistics are still a bit of a mess is a tough pill to swallow for customers.
The End of the 20$ Era: From the SL-03 Boots to the YS-01 Slides
If you’ve been following the Yeezy SL-03 boots, this $40 jump probably looks familiar. Remember when those dropped for $20 and everyone’s jaw hit the floor? Well, they’re sitting at $100 now. Between new customs tariffs and the actual cost of making a boot that solid, it seems the $20 price point just wasn’t going to last forever.
The early birds who copped the SL-03 for twenty bucks definitely got the “Santa Ye” treatment, but for everyone else, the price hike was a wake-up call. I actually put together a deep dive on everything you need to know about the SL-03 if you want to read more about it.
With the SL-03 boots, we at least had some solid theories, global customs tariffs were shifting, and production costs were spiking. But for the YS-01, the move to $40 caught everyone off guard. It happened so suddenly that we’re still guessing why. Maybe the demand was just too high for a $20 price point to stay sustainable? Either way, it’s a big shift for the community.
So today, only a few items are still $20, like the Yeezy TS-07 for example. But all these increases make us think that the $20 era might come to an end…
Good News on Shipping
On a brighter note, things are finally starting to move! After a long standstill (likely due to the Chinese New Year break), we’re seeing a massive wave of shipping notifications over the last few days.
It looks like yeezy.com is finally clearing the backlog. So, even if the YS-01 costs a bit more now, at least there’s a better chance you’ll actually get them on your feet soon (hopefully) !
